Choosing Your File Format

As you probably know, the basic Web page format is HTML, but choosing this file format results in a main page and a subfolder with supporting files. There is an alternative—the MHT file format that Internet Explorer (5.0 or later) supports—but it might not be viewable on all systems and other browsers such as Netscape.

Saving an HTML file on a Windows machine results in a file with a three-letter suffix, so it will show up as an HTM file.
