Setting Up Sound

If you're showing movies or using audio to enhance your presentation, don't rely on your feeble laptop speakers to transmit the sound to the audience. Either travel with your own external speakers (which clutter the area around your laptop during your talk) or come equipped with cables and plugs that enable you to connect to a local sound system—generally the same one that will be carrying your voice from a portable lapel or podium microphone.

There are two kinds of audio plugs and cables you need to have:
