Hour 15. Communicating with Outlook 2003 > Outlook Is Not Outlook Express

Outlook Is Not Outlook Express

Do not confuse Outlook with Outlook Express. Outlook Express is an add-on program that comes with Internet Explorer and Windows. Outlook Express is sort of a slimmed-down version of Outlook but does not contain the scheduling, journaling, and advanced group of features that Outlook contains. Outlook Express does not replace Outlook, so feel free to use Outlook rather than Outlook Express for your contact information.

Outlook Express actually has a feature that Microsoft Outlook does not have. You can work with newsgroups, which are a version of massive online electronic bulletin boards organized by topic; with them, you can share files and messages with users from all over the world who are interested in the same topics you are. Microsoft Outlook does not contain a newsgroup reader, but Outlook Express does.
