Much of this hour's lesson was theory-based because Access requires more preparation than the other Office products. After you learn about the elements that make up a database—tables, records, and fields—the Access mechanics are easy to understand.

To create an Access database, add tables that describe the database data. Each table contains fields and records. When you design a table, you must describe the field names and data types that the table requires.
