Summary

A variety of file management techniques and file relationships are possible in Project. You can start with a single file and break it into manageable pieces. Going the other way, several projects can be consolidated into a single window and saved as one file. Within a consolidated file, linking complete projects is as easy as linking tasks within a simple project file. You can also create external predecessor and successor tasks between projects that might otherwise have nothing else in common except dates. By associating projects with a single resource list, you can more easily avoid or correct overallocation of resources.
