Summary

By this hour, you have created a task list, applied an outline structure to the list, linked tasks together in a logical sequence, and modified those links as needed to create a project plan. There are probably key tasks and dates that must be met in order for the plan to meet the goals. In this hour, you learned there are two ways to have Project help you keep track of those key dates. By setting task constraints, you ask Project to fix tasks to specific dates and warn you, via the Planning Wizard, when those dates cannot be met. By setting task deadlines instead, you tell Project it is okay to move tasks around in the schedule as conditions change, but to mark the key dates for you on the Gantt Chart and warn you, via an icon, if the tasks are slipping past the deadline dates.
