Setting Task Reminders

Microsoft Project tasks can be integrated into your Microsoft Outlook task list. If Outlook is available on your machine, and you use Outlook to receive and respond to your workgroup manager's messages instead of using the TeamInbox, accepted tasks are automatically added to your Outlook task list. Reminders of upcoming dates and deadlines can be set for Project/Outlook tasks. The reminder is actually set from within Project.

To Do: Setting a Task Reminder for Tasks Already Accepted with Outlook

To set a reminder for a Project task you have already accepted using Outlook, follow these steps:

1.
From Microsoft Project, choose Tools, Workgroup, Set Reminder. The Set Reminders dialog box appears as shown in Figure 23.8.

Figure 23.8. You can set an Outlook reminder for a Project task.

2.
Make selections for the reminder time period such as minutes, days, or weeks ahead.

3.
Indicate whether the reminder is keyed to the task start date or finish date.

4.
Click OK when finished. The task reminders are sent to Outlook, which will then issue the reminder at the appropriate time.
