Hour 23. Using Microsoft Project in Workgroups > Setting Up Project Messaging

Setting Up Project Messaging

After deciding on a messaging method and verifying software and hardware configurations for the workgroup manager and members, you must configure the workgroup settings for your Project file. When using email-based workgroup communication, if a team member's name is the same as his email name, Project 2000 uses that team member's name for communications. Most often, however, you will need to enter each team member's email address in your project. Display the Email Address field on a resource sheet table and enter all the email addresses for the people in the workgroup. To do so, open the Resource Information dialog box by double-clicking a team member in the resource sheet, and enter the team member's email address in this dialog.

Tip

Email addresses can be copied from an existing electronic address book and pasted into the Project email field. It's best to do this in a template or resource pool file so that you have to do it only once.

See Hour 22, "Working with Multiple Projects," for information on setting up resource pools.
