Splitting Tasks and Task Assignments

You might have noticed that you hardly ever get to work on a task from start to finish without having to stop and work on something else; you're putting out fires or you're diverted temporarily to another task with a higher priority. If you know in advance that you will have to interrupt your work on a task, you can build in a split in the task work schedule. Project can show that the work stops at the point of the split and then resumes at a later time.

A split in a task or in a task assignment is an interruption in the schedule, so that work stops at the point of the split and then resumes later at the end of the split.
