Chapter 3. Modifying Visio SmartShape Sy... > Protecton Section Settings

Protecton Section Settings

All of these cells are Boolean FALSE or TRUE (zero or non-zero) values. Cell by cell, I'll work through all the important aspects of each cell and how it relates to other cells and affects the behavior of a given Visio SmartShape symbol. When you are beginning to learn how each of these cells function, have a Rectangle Visio SmartShape symbol that has been converted to a 1D symbol (by selecting Format, Behavior from the menu and selecting the 1D radio button, and then clicking OK) and a Line Visio SmartShape symbol at your disposal in the drawing window. Be ready to open the appropriate 2D (rectangle), 1D (rectangle), or 1D (line) symbol's ShapeSheet and as you change these settings to interact with the symbol. See for yourself how the change in setting affects the behavior of the symbol. Some settings will become readily apparent via visual clues or by diminished ability—others are much more subtle.

Important Concept Number Four

The Protection section settings protect ONLY against changes instituted from the user interface by the user. Via the ShapeSheet or through Automation, any cell's settings can still be manipulated.
