Chapter 2. An Introduction to ShapeSheet... > Programming Parametric SmartShape Sy...

Programming Parametric SmartShape Symbols

Take a look at one more example of parametric behavior in Visio SmartShape symbols. The premise is that if a SmartShape symbol ever becomes greater than two inches in width, the filled color of the SmartShape symbol should turn red; otherwise, the filled color should be green. To fully understand this process, you have to be aware of at least one more section in a Visio ShapeSheet, the Fill Format section, and more specifically, the FillForegnd cell. This cell controls the foreground color of the filled area of a SmartShape symbol.

As you did before, drag out a rectangle of indeterminate size. You might want to make its initial size around one and a half inches wide and one inch high. Now, as before, use the first mantra (Window, Show ShapeSheet, Window, Tile) to open the ShapeSheet for the rectangle. With the ShapeSheet window active, select View, Sections from the menu. When the dialog appears, click the All button. This displays all the available sections in the ShapeSheet of the currently selected SmartShape symbol.
