Lesson 4. Using Excel's Toolbars > Customizing the Toolbars

Customizing the Toolbars

Because you use toolbars often, it makes sense to customize them to the way you work. The most common task you'll want to perform is adding and removing buttons from a toolbar, so that it contains only the tools you really use. Here's how:

  1. To add or remove buttons on a toolbar, click More Buttons. (On a floating toolbar, the More Buttons button is the down arrow at the left end of the title bar. (See Figure 4.3.) A cascading menu appears.

  2. Click Add or Remove Buttons. Another menu appears.

  3. Buttons that already appear on the toolbar have a check mark in front of them. If you click one of these buttons, the check mark disappears, and the button is removed from the toolbar.

If you click a button that does not have a check mark, then a check mark appears, and the button is added to the toolbar.
