A Look at the Excel Screen

As you can see in Figure 1.1, the Excel window contains many common Windows elements, including a menu bar (from which you select commands), a status bar (which displays the status of the current activity), and toolbars (which contain buttons and drop-down lists that provide quick access to common commands and features).

New Menu, Please You'll notice that the menus in Excel 2000 act a bit differently from their Windows' brothers. When you open a menu, the commands displayed on it will vary, depending on which options you select more often. To display all the available options on a menu, click the down arrow at the bottom of the menu, and it will expand.
