Inserting Cells Between Existing Data

Sometimes you need to insert information into a worksheet right in the middle of existing data. Inserting cells causes the data in existing cells to shift down a row or over a column to create a space for the new cells.

Note

Watch Your Formulas! If your worksheet contains formulas that rely on the contents of the cells being shifted, the calculations may be thrown off. After inserting cells, double-check any formulas in your worksheet that might be affected.
