Lesson 25. Managing Faxes with Outlook > Setting Up the Fax Service

Setting Up the Fax Service

Microsoft Outlook can be used to send and receive faxes using Microsoft Fax. To use Microsoft Fax when you are in Outlook, you must configure its features so that your computer can send or receive faxes over a modem or a network that uses a network fax server.

Microsoft Fax is only available if you are using the Corporate installation of Microsoft Outlook. If you are using the Internet Only configuration of Outlook, you can send and receive faxes using Symantec's WinFax Starter Edition, which is installed with Outlook for Internet Only. For more about this alternative method of sending and receiving faxes, see "Using WinFax" later in this lesson.
