Starting Outlook

You start Outlook from the Windows desktop. After starting the program, you can leave it open, or you can minimize it to free up the desktop for other applications. Either way, you can access it at any time during your workday.

Outlook and System Performance

If you leave Outlook open on your desktop, it will still require a certain amount of your system resources. This means that if you normally run multiple applications such as Word and Excel, you may see some loss of performance as you work. If this becomes a problem, close Outlook to free up your system's memory. Adding memory to your system, of course, is also an alternative for increasing performance.
