Lesson 24. Customizing Outlook > Setting Outlook Options

Setting Outlook Options

You can set all of Outlook's options by using the Options dialog box. (To open the Options dialog box, select Tools, Options.) The number of tabs on this dialog box will depend on the installation option you chose when you installed Outlook (Internet E-mail Only or Corporate installation). The Options dialog box for the Corporate configuration can have eight tabs: Preferences, Mail Services, Mail Format, Spelling, Security, Other, Delegates, and Internet E-mail (depending on the services you have set up). Each of the tabs controls a specific category of Outlook's settings. For example, the Other tab of the Options dialog box, shown in Figure 24.1, controls options such as Deleted Items Folder, AutoArchive, and Preview Pane.

You will find that the tabs available in the Options dialog box for the Internet Only installation of Outlook reflect that fact that only one kind of email service is available: Internet email. Also, because you work with accounts rather than services in the Internet Only installation, the Mail delivery tab enables you to quickly access the Accounts Manager (see Figure 24.2).
