Checking and Correcting Spelling

Word's spelling checker enables you to verify and correct the spelling of words in your document. Words are checked against a standard dictionary, and unknown words are flagged. You can then ignore the word, correct it, or add it to the dictionary.

To check spelling in a portion of a document, select the text that you want to check. Otherwise, Word checks the entire document, starting at the location of the cursor. If you want the check to start at the beginning of the document, move the insertion point to the start of the document by pressing Ctrl+Home. Then use the following steps:
