Lesson 18. Saving Time with AutoCorrect ... > AutoCorrect Versus AutoText

AutoCorrect Versus AutoText

You might have realized that you can use AutoCorrect to perform the task of AutoText, at least for inserting text. (AutoCorrect cannot insert graphics.) Thus, if your name is Heironymous J. Whipplesnapper, you can define an AutoCorrect entry hjw to automatically insert your name. The major difference is that AutoCorrect entries are inserted automatically, whereas AutoText entries require user confirmation. Note that every AutoText and AutoCorrect entry will be available in all documents you edit.

This lesson showed you how to use Word's AutoText and AutoCorrect features. The next lesson, "Using Symbols and Special Characters," shows you how to use international and special characters.
