Lesson 18. Saving Time with AutoCorrect ... > Modifying AutoCorrect Settings

Modifying AutoCorrect Settings

You can modify the AutoCorrect settings so it works the way you want. You might want to delete some of the many AutoCorrect entries that are predefined in Word. For example, if you work for a company named ACN Consulting you do not want the ACN corrected to CAN every time you type it. To modify AutoCorrect settings, follow these steps:

  1. Click Tools, AutoCorrect to open the AutoCorrect dialog box (refer to Figure 18.1).

  2. Do any of the following:

    • To control the way AutoCorrect deals with capitalization errors, select or deselect the four check boxes at the top of the dialog box.

    • To enable or disable automatic text replacement, select or deselect the Replace Text as You Type check box.

    • To delete an individual AutoCorrect entry, select it in the list and click Delete.

    • To modify an entry, select it in the list, edit the text in the With text box, and select Replace.

  3. Click OK.
