Lesson 26. Revision Marks, Multiple Vers... > Tracking and Highlighting Document C...

Tracking and Highlighting Document Changes

Keeping track of changes and highlighting them in the document are two independent processes. There are three ways in which this can work:

  • If you track changes without highlighting them, Word keeps track of document changes but does not display revision marks on the screen. You can later turn on the revision marks to show the previous changes.

  • If you highlight changes without tracking them, changes that were made to the document when tracking was turned on are highlighted, but new changes are not tracked or marked.

  • If you both track and highlight changes, Word tracks new changes and marks both old and new ones. You will probably use this setting most often.
