Emailing a Document

If you have Microsoft Messaging or another email program installed on your system, you can sa document directly to a mail recipient. Following are the steps to take:

  1. Click File, Send To, Mail Recipient (as Attachment).

  2. Depending on the specifics of your system, Word might ask you to select a profile setting. Generally, the default setting is the one that you will select.

  3. Next you see your usual New Message window. The appearance of this window varies depending on the mail system you are using, but it will be the same mail form that you use for other email messages. Figure 9.3 shows the New Message window used by Microsoft Outlook Express.

  4. The document will already be inserted in the message and represented by an icon, and the message subject line will be filled in (although you can change the subject). You can add text to the message if desired. You must also fill in the To… text box of the message with the recipient's address.

  5. When the message is complete, click the Send button.
