Entering Text and Moving Around

Word displays a blinking vertical line in the work area. This is the cursor or insertion point, and it identifies the location in the document where text will be inserted and where certain editing actions will occur. To enter text, simply type it on the keyboard. Do not press Enter at the of a line—Word automatically wraps the text to a new line when you reach the right margin. Press Enter only when you want to start a new paragraph.

If you make a mistake, there are a couple of ways to delete it:
