Splitting the Screen

Word allows you to split the work area into two panels, one above the other, so that you can view different parts of one document at the same time. Each panel scrolls independently and has its own scroll bars. Figure 7.8 shows a document displayed on a split screen. Editing changes that you make in either panel affect the document. To split the screen use the following steps:

  1. Click Window, Split. Word displays a horizontal splitter bar across the middle of the work area.

  2. To accept two equal size panes, click with the left mouse button or press Enter. To create different size panes, move the mouse until the splitter bar is in the desired location, then press Enter.
