Lesson 27. Designing a Presentation for ... > Using the PowerPoint Viewer

Using the PowerPoint Viewer

Instead of saving your work as a Web page, you can simply copy the PowerPoint presentation in its native .ppt format to the Web server and let the readers access it as a PowerPoint presentation. This is good because it preserves all your special effects, no matter what browser the audience is using; it does, however, require that all your readers have a copy of PowerPoint installed.

A partial solution for this situation is to provide your audience with a PowerPoint viewer program. This program is a "runtime" version of PowerPoint, containing just enough of the right stuff to view your presentation onscreen. The reader can't make any changes to the presentation; it's like being permanently in Slide Show view.
