When you installed Lotus Notes on your remote computer or laptop, you specified that you would be using a remote connection. As part of the installation process, Notes then created a replica stub (or place holder) of your mail database; the first time you attempt to open the database, Notes initializes the database by calling the server and making the full replica. If you have been using Notes from the office and only recently decided to go mobile, you have to make a replica of your mail database (as you did in Lesson 19) before you leave the office. Otherwise, use the instructions in the previous section, but specify your mail as the database you want to replicate (it's in the \mail folder on the server).
When you work with a replica of the mail database, outgoing mail is stored temporarily in the Outgoing Mailbox database. When you replicate or smail to the server, the outgoing mail is sent, and the Outgoing Mailbox database mailbox is emptied. Incoming mail is automatically deposited in your Inbox.
