Creating an Author Profile

An Author Profile contains information about you. Where the discussion database is shared by a larger organization in which participants might not all know one another, the Author Profile gives you a personality. In addition, the Author Profile is a useful tool in determining the qualifications of participants. For example, informing others that you have a background in hazardous waste removal might add credence to your proposal to remove all garbage disposals from the lunchrooms. The Author Profile also provides information that helps people contact you outside the discussion database. You can even add a picture of yourself.

To create or edit an Author Profile, click My Author Profile in the Navigation Pane of the discussion database. In the Author Profile (see Figure 18.6), enter your email address, phone number, role in the discussion database, goals, and any additional relevant information. If you have a picture of yourself saved as a graphic file, click the Import Photo Here field and choose Create, Picture. Select the picture file, and click Import. This makes your picture available Import Photo Here to Notes users. To have your picture seen by Web users, click the Attach Photo Here field and attach your photo file there. Click Save & Close when you complete your Author Profile.
