Lesson 1. Getting Started with Notes > Changing and Locking Your Password

Changing and Locking Your Password

When you first open Lotus Notes, the password you enter is the one assigned to you by your Notes Administrator. Change your password so that no one else can use your user ID to access shared Notes databases.

A password can have any combination of keyboard characters, as long as the first character is alphanumeric and you don't use spaces. When you change your password, your new password needs to contain at least eight characters unless your Notes Administrator tells you otherwise. Be careful about how you capitalize your password, though, because PASSWORD is different from password.
