Viewing SmartIcons

Some people prefer to click on icons to perform program functions in lieu of accessing the menu. In most programs that are designed to run under Microsoft Windows, icons can be found on the windows toolbar. Lotus refers to their icons as SmartIcons and, by default, these SmartIcons do not display. SmartIcons are context sensitive, and they change depending upon the task you are performing in Notes. For example, one set of icons appears when you are reading a document, and another set appears when you are editing a document. To display the SmartIcons, choose File, Preferences, SmartIcon Settings, and then click the Icon Bar check box. Click OK, and the SmartIcon set appears on your toolbar as shown in Figure 1.4.

Figure 1.4. SmartIcons appear in black and white below the menu bar. For full color SmartIcons, choose File, Preferences, User Preferences and change the Icon color scheme to Full color.
