Consolidating Projects

The best method for creating a consolidated project file requires you to open a new or existing file and then insert other project files into it. The individual files don't need to be open; you can browse the folders to find the projects to include. This method gives you more control over the order of the individual projects in the combined file, the ability to set the linking relationship between the individual and combined files, and a choice of whether to display all project subtasks or only a project summary task row for each file.

In general, projects inserted into a consolidated file behave like "normal" project files. Tasks can be cut, copied, and pasted within the consolidated file. Projects and individ- ual tasks can be linked in any of the four types of linking relationships. With few exceptions, tasks and groups of tasks can also be indented and outdented to alter the outline structure and, therefore, the summary information in the consolidated file.
