Hour 17. Tracking Work on the Project > Tracking Progress for Unfinished Tasks

Tracking Progress for Unfinished Tasks

After a longer task has started, you might want to keep track of how the work is going while it's still far from being finished. Project has several ways to show partial completion of a task. If a task is partially completed, then some of the scheduled duration (calendar periods when work takes place) must have already occurred. You can enter the progress on the task in three ways:

  • You can enter Actual Duration as an amount (like 2 days or 40 hours).

  • You can enter the Percent Complete, which is the Actual Duration divided by the scheduled Duration. When nothing has been done on a task, the Percent Complete is zero; when the task is finished, it's 100%.

  • You can enter the Remaining Duration, which is the scheduled Duration minus the Actual Duration.
