Using Project 98's Tutorials and Help Features

The first thing to do with any new software is to get used to the user interface—the screens, menus, and toolbars that you use to run the program. Microsoft Project offers an impressive array of learning aids, starting with the opening welcome screen. When you start Microsoft Project, the Welcome! dialog box offers immediate access to tutorials on using Project to develop a project plan.

The Welcome! dialog box (see Figure 1.1) appears each time you start Project until you select the check box in its lower-left corner labeled Don't Display this Startup Screen Again. Use the Close button in the upper-right corner of the Welcome! dialog box if, for the time being, you just want to close it without selecting any of the learning aids. (The Welcome! screen's three tutorials are described below.)
