Part VII: Beyond One Project, One Application > Working with Multiple Projects

Hour 19. Working with Multiple Projects

In the simplest project management environment, there is a single onging project—but life is usually not so simple. A single project might grow so large that it should be broken into discrete phases or task groups, or each department in a company could have a single project to manage, or many departments might have several projects each to track. Projects within and across departments might depend on each other for information, such as completion dates. Instead of creating one huge project across the company, Project allows you to manage smaller files individually and then combine and link them as necessary. These smaller files can be opened one at a time or in a group, and each file can be placed in its own window. A critically important aspect of using multiple project files is balancing workloads for employees or equipment that are assigned between several projects.

In this hour, I'll show you techniques for consolidating many projects into one and how to share resources between several projects using a resource pool.
