Reviewing Progress Information at the Task Level

The task Variance, Cost, and Work tables discussed previously are helpful for viewing progress and variance information at the task level. The entire group of Current Activity reports can also be helpful.

Another way to see whether tasks are progressing on schedule is to display a task progress line. Setting a progress date and displaying a progress line causes Project to draw a vertical line on a Gantt Chart on the progress date. The line connects tasks that begin before the progress date or cross the date, and aren't completed yet. If the line bulges or peaks to the left of the vertical line, that task is behind schedule. However, if the line peaks to the right, a task is ahead of schedule.
