Part I: Word > Styles, Page Layout, and Tables

4. Styles, Page Layout, and Tables

After you've polished the content of your document, it's time to work on the packaging, and Word 2004 includes the wrapping paper, ribbon, and bows that can take you beyond simple word processing deep into the realm of page design and layout.

For example, an endless block of text running across the page is fine, but columns of text are more professional looking, easier to read—and much less boring. Or perhaps you'd like to add some well-placed borders, but you've never been sure how to work with them.

This chapter builds on Chapter 3's formatting lessons and teaches finishing touches that give your document polish and flair.
