Part II: Entourage > Calendar, Tasks, and the Project Center

10. Calendar, Tasks, and the Project Center

Computers are supposed to be ultra-efficient timesaving devices, so why is everyone more pressed for time than ever? There are reports to be written, bosses to be appeased, shopping to be done, and kids to be taken to soccer. Although Entourage can't get your kids to practice, it can help you take control of your precious time. It gives you a new tool for keeping track of the million things you need to do and the information you need to do them—the Project Center.

Entourage has perhaps changed more than any other program in Office 2004. Sure, much of its email setup is familiar (Chapter 9), and the Calendar and Tasks have been around for a while, but the Project Center is radically new. It gives you one-stop-shopping access to all the email messages, appointments, to-do items, Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and other files connected to a certain project. A project can be a major work-related goal, but it can also represent your volunteer work, holiday festivities, kids' activities, financial planning, or any life pursuit. All you have to do is create a project and tell Entourage which items to "file" under it. From then on, everything you need for that project is at your mousetip.
