EXCEL 2003 LIST ANNOYANCES

CREATE A LIST

The Annoyance:

I've used data lists since my first days with Excel back in the early 1990s. They let me create PivotTables, sort and filter my data, and transfer data to and from databases easily.

I was pleased to see that 2003's Data menu now has a List submenu. When I clicked Data → List → Create List, I saw a dialog box that seemed to want me to select a range of cells, but I chickened out and backed away. Are the lists in Excel 2003 much different from the data lists I use to create PivotTables and filters and such? What the heck are these new lists, and should I convert my old lists to the new type?
