18.9. Equation Editor

For the scientifically minded, Microsoft offers the Equation Editor program, which lets you create equations worthy of any Ph.D. student at CalTech.

To open this valuable program in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint, choose Insert→Object and double-click Microsoft Equation Editor. A window in which to type your equation opens, along with a double-row toolbar across the top that's filled with equation element templates—fractions, radicals, integrals, summation, and set theory templates. Each offers a variety of symbols that you can incorporate into equations as complicated as you'll ever need.
