Starting the Review

Decide in advance how you want your users to access the file. If the recipients are mixed—that is, they are working with both Acrobat and Adobe Reader 6 or 7—you can use the default settings as you set up the review. But your reviewers need to know they can only comment if they have Acrobat or Adobe Reader 6 or 7. You don’t have to remember this detail because Acrobat automatically includes the information in the e-mail it creates to invite participants to the review. Acrobat 7 Professional automatically enables a file to be commented on in Adobe Reader 7.

On the other hand, if the document contains signature fields, as Erin’s will, enabling it for commenting in Adobe Reader 7 prevents the same document from being signed in Acrobat 7 due to the programming complexities involved.
