Chapter 7. Managing E-mail Using Acrobat > Using PDF File Attachments

Using PDF File Attachments

In Acrobat 7, Abby can attach files of any type to a PDF document so that the attachments are included with the PDF for storage or for e-mailing. The recipient can open the PDF file, and the attachments are included right along with the document—a simple fact that fills Abby with delight.

In her business, much of the exchange of information with both clients and manufacturers is conducted by e-mail. But attaching files to e-mails can be tricky business. Attachments are difficult to manage, and it’s easy to forget to include an attachment when sending an e-mail. Or, attachments simply get “lost” on others’ computers. By including the attachments with a PDF, there’s no loss of information anywhere, and the recipient can always access the content directly from the PDF. If you move the PDF file on your hard drive, the attached files or pages automatically move with it, saving time in organizing and maintaining your files.
