Chapter 6. Managing a Print Job > Method 3: Faster Document Conversions in Word

Method 3: Faster Document Conversions in Word

Dinah’s job is finished. She is pleased with her efforts, but she has an additional thought. What if she could make it simpler still? She’s a bit concerned about Sadie, Uncle Bob’s secretary. Will she be able to produce the correctly formatted documents? On the other hand, Dinah could also use some new furniture, and if the process stays on the complex side, maybe she can make a few more deals with Uncle Bob.

But she decides to take the high road and investigate one last option. Dinah recalls that in the Acrobat Distiller dialog, she chose the PDF/X-1a:2001 settings from the Default Settings pull-down list. She knows that Acrobat installs the same conversion setting files in the PDFMaker as it does in Distiller. What if she could simply choose those same settings in Word? That would save printing to the file and then doing the conversion in Distiller.
