Chapter 10. Making a Form Interactive > Final Form Field Fixes

Final Form Field Fixes

If a customer clicks the sandwich special check box, choices made in the bread, cheese, and fill fields are automatically deselected. At this stage in the form’s development, the reverse condition is not true. That is, if the customer selects the sandwich special, and then has a change of heart and clicks bread, cheese, or filling options, the sandwich special isn’t automatically deselected. Deselecting the fields wasn’t included earlier in the chapter when these fields were created because the fields for the specials weren’t part of the form yet.

Acrobat offers two form field-specific actions called On Blur and On Focus. When a customer clicks a field to type a number, the program’s activity moves to, or focuses on the selected field. When the customer clicks another field, the first field is said to be blurred, meaning it is no longer the active field. Before going on to the fields that calculate the order totals, you have to add actions to the bread, cheese, and fill fields so the sandwich special is deselected if the customer later decides to custom-build a lunch order instead of choosing the special. You’ll use the On Blur action for this.
