Chapter 5. Creating Online Content in Acrobat > Building the Master Document

Building the Master Document

The first step of the project is to build a document to be used as a “master” document, which is essentially a PDF template. It’s important to Chuck that the PDF property listings are built quickly and consistently. Using the master page concept, he can swap the content on the page using the Replace Pages command in Acrobat.

The master document begins as a Word file that includes small graphics serving as dividers on the page, Web links, and a sample listing placed in a table. Chuck saves the page as a DOC file and intends to swap images and text for additional listings as required. He could create a blank table with the graphic lines and links and save that as a template (DOT) file, but since Chuck doesn’t like working with templates, swapping content is a better solution for him.
