Chapter 12. Assembling a Library > Converting Word Documents for the Collection

Converting Word Documents for the Collection

The simplest part of Henry’s task is to convert all the available text documents, which the organization has been storing both digitally and on paper. Withe the help of two office assistants, the many files the union has generated over the years are assembled in one folder location. Instead of opening all the files in Word and using the PDFMaker to convert the files, Henry can work from the desktop after checking settings in Word. Using Word’s PDFMaker, he can add features like links, bookmarks, and tags to the documents. The only requirement for this project is that its structure be tagged.

Note

When Acrobat 7 is installed on your computer, part of the installation process includes menus and a toolbar that are also installed in Microsoft Office programs, including Word. These menus and toolbar are called the PDFMaker.
