Word Processing Basics

Word processing software has revolutionized the way we create text-based documents. Rather than committing each character to paper as you type—as you would do with a typewriter—word processing enables you to enter documents onscreen, edit and format them as you work, and save them for future reference or revision. Nothing appears on paper until you use the Print command.

If you’re brand new to word processing, here are a few concepts you should understand before you begin working with Microsoft Word or any other word processing software:
