Chapter 5. Structuring PDF Documents > Working with Watermarks and Backgrounds

Working with Watermarks and Backgrounds

You can have Acrobat add a graphic or text to the background or foreground of the pages in your document. This addition can be a note, a company logo, or anything else you'd like. Acrobat calls this addition a background if it is placed behind the contents of your pages; it is a watermark if it is placed on top of your pages' contents. The source of this graphic or text is a page taken from another PDF file.

To add a watermark or background

1.
Choose Document > Add Watermark & Background.

This opens the Add Watermark & Background dialog box (Figure 5.34).

Figure 5.34. The Add Watermark & Background dialog box lets you add and position background graphics on your pages.

2.
In the Type area, choose whether to add a background or a watermark by clicking the appropriate radio button.

Also click the check boxes to choose when to display your watermark or background: on screen, when printing, or both.

3.
Click the Choose button to find the file for your watermark or background.

4.
In the Open dialog box, navigate to the file you want and click Open.

The image or text appears in the preview pane on the right of the Add Watermark & Background dialog box.

5.
Select the vertical and horizontal alignment, scale, rotation, and opacity of the image.

6.
Choose the pages on which you want the watermark or background displayed.

7.
Preview your document in the preview pane (Figure 5.35). When you're happy with the effect, click OK.
