Chapter 16. PDF Files and the Web > Removing Optimization from PDF Files

Removing Optimization from PDF Files

In some cases, you may want viewers to download an entire document at the same time instead of page by page. If viewers have an entire document on their systems, they'll be able to access individual pages much faster than if the pages have to be downloaded individually. To provide this capability, you must create nonoptimized files.

To remove optimization from PDF files

1.
Choose Edit/Acrobat > Preferences (Ctrl+K/Command+K).

The Preferences dialog box appears.

2.
In the list on the left side of the dialog box, select General.

3.
Uncheck the Save As Optimizes for Fast Web View check box.

4.
Click OK.

5.
Open the PDF file.

6.
Choose Save As from the File menu.

The Save As dialog box appears.

7.
Click the Save button.

Now the file will be downloaded in its entirety when it is viewed with a Web browser.
