Chapter 6. Making PDFs Easy to Navigate > Changing Bookmark Properties

Changing Bookmark Properties

Reading through a long list of bookmarks can be a bit mind numbing. You can alter the appearance of bookmarks to make the hierarchy more visible and easier to navigate. For example, make all chapter headings bold and italic, and make the text for all figure references red.

To change a bookmark's properties

1.
Open the Bookmarks pane for the current document.

2.
Click to select a bookmark.

3.
Choose Properties from the Options pop-up menu in the Bookmarks pane.

The Bookmark Properties dialog box appears (Figure 6.11).

4.
Choose the Appearance tab.

5.
To change the color or text style of the bookmark's name, click the color box or choose a style from the pop-up menu (Figure 6.12) in the Appearance section of the dialog box.
