Chapter 10. Forms > Creating Radio Buttons

Creating Radio Buttons

While check boxes allow you to choose one or multiple options, radio buttons allow you to select only one item. They're useful when you want to give users mutually exclusive options.

To create radio buttons

1.
Choose the Radio Button tool from the Forms toolbar (Figure 10.29).

2.
Drag to draw the field on the page.

The Radio Button Properties dialog box appears.

In the Radio Button Properties dialog box, there are four tabs to choose from: General, Appearance, Options, and Actions.

3.
In the dialog box, choose the General tab and name the field, and (if you like) type a brief description in the Tooltip text box. Specify settings in the Common Properties area.

4.
Specify settings in the General, Appearance, and Actions panes as you did in previous tasks.

5.
On the Options tab, choose a button style from the pop-up menu (Figure 10.30). Also enter a value in the Export Value text box (the default will be Yes), which is the answer to the question that the radio button poses (for example, the form may ask users if they are registered voters). Also choose whether the button is selected by default, and if buttons with the same name and value are selected simultaneously.

6.
Click Close.

7.
Change to the Hand tool to display the check box.
