Opening Secure PDFs

Opening a password-protected document, whether it's one that you protected or one you received from someone else, takes only a moment.

To open a locked PDF file

1.
Double-click the file's icon or select it in Acrobat's Open dialog box.

The Password dialog box appears, notifying you that the document is protected by a password (Figure B.6) and asking you to enter the password.

Figure B.6. If you see this dialog box, you know the document is password protected.

2.
Enter the password and click OK to open the document.

If you enter the correct password, the document opens.

If you enter the wrong password, an alert box appears (Figure B.7). Click OK to return to the Password dialog box; then enter the correct password and click OK.

Figure B.7. An alert lets you know that you entered the wrong password.
